Frequently asked
If it’s not here, just ask. We’d rather answer than have you wondering.
When should I RSVP by?
By 16 October 2026, please. The venue wants final numbers not long after that, so the sooner you can tell us the better.
What time should I arrive?
Late afternoon at The Old Court House. We haven’t pinned the exact time down yet — as soon as we have, it’ll be on this page and we’ll email everyone who has replied.
What should I wear?
Smart or formal. Kuching in November sits around 30°C and it’s humid, with a decent chance of a short downpour in the evening, so light fabrics will serve you far better than anything heavy. Part of the venue is open to the air and the ground outside is uneven in places, which is worth knowing before you commit to a thin heel.
Can I bring children?
Yes, please bring them. Just add them when you RSVP so we can sort out seating and feed them properly.
Can I bring a guest?
Your invitation says how many places we’ve been able to keep, and the RSVP form will hold you to that number. If something has changed since we sent it, email us rather than guessing — we’d rather sort it out than have you unsure.
Is there a bar?
Yes, and it’s on us. Drinks are provided throughout the reception.
Will there be music?
A country band is playing through the evening, after dinner and the speeches. There’s a box on the RSVP form for a song request, and we read every one of them.
I have a dietary requirement. How do I tell you?
The RSVP form asks about it for each person in your party separately. Be as specific as you can. Whatever you write is what we hand to the venue, so ‘no nuts’ is more use to them than ‘allergies’.
Is the venue accessible?
It’s a heritage building from the 1870s, so it isn’t purpose-built. Most of the evening happens on one level, but there are steps in places and the ground outside is uneven. Tell us what you need on the RSVP form and we’ll make sure it’s arranged before the day.
Are you having a gift list?
Honestly, having you there is the thing. If you’d still like to give something, we’ll put details here nearer the time.
Where is the ceremony?
We’ll register our marriage at JPN Kuching on the morning of the wedding, with our immediate families there. It’s a short legal formality rather than a ceremony with an audience. The part you’re invited to is the reception at The Old Court House that evening.
Who do I contact if I have a question?
